Coffee Cons

Coffee can be decaffeinated using one of several methods. With direct process decaffeinating, solvents such as formaldehyde are used to absorb the caffeine from the coffee in order to remove it. The flavor of the chemical method coffee is generally considered superior; however, it leaves some chemical residue that can have negative health effects

2/8/11 Sleeping More = Crashing Less

I think I’m starting to see a direct link between my sleep and my crashes early in the day. The nights I get a solid 6 hours of sleep I’ve noticed a 2 hour prolonging of energy before crashing. There are some things I can do to help in getting that sleep I so desperately

I-SCREAM!

I totally bought this Vitamix to make green veggie smoothies and drinks. Me and my kiddos are sitting around this week snowed in and bored out of our minds!  My daughter was wanting something “sweet”, so I got my new toy out to take a stab at my first dessert! In under 5 minutes I

Vitamixin’!

Part of my healing involves eating a lot of vegetables.  80% is is ideal for healing (60% for maintaining health).  Getting close to that is going to be tough.  SO… I finally got a Vitamix to help ease more veggies into my diet.  It seems easier to drink them than to eat them… to me.

2/2/11 – Another Day of Detox?

Wow, what a day. I struggled through this one. I’m not really sure what caused it but I have my suspicions. Per suggestions of the newest book I’m reading “Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome” by Jim Wilson, I made sure to keep my fuel source coming (that would be FOOD!). He informs that

Balls to the Wall – nothing in between!

I have several trainers/fitness consultants on my Facebook page.  I love reading their motivational status updates and occasionally they are linked to some good information.  But what exactly IS their message!?  Today I “unliked” one of them after reading this status update: “If balls to the wall, push to failure, kill yourself training is at

1/27/11 – Nutrients & Signs of Improvement

I’m using the same drive I had to lose over 100 lbs to kick this sh** in the a$$! My diet is mostly clean although I’m still not up to par on my calorie intake.  If I’m not eating enough, I’m just putting more stress on my adrenals.  I’ve started logging my food (yesterday) in

Quotes in a Different Light

I’m definitely seeing things in a different light.  Someone posted some of their favorite quotes form Jack Lalanne.  They included: “The only way you can hurt the body is not use it.” “I do it as a therapy. I do it as something to keep me alive. We all need a little discipline. Exercise is

1/18/11 – Experiments & Acceptance

So, apparently the sauna is a huge no, no for me.  And little by little I’m learning my limitations, and I’m SO FRUSTRATED!!!  But deeper inside… I can sense a bigger picture emerging.  I just have to stop forcing it down. I’ve been reading a lot on the subject of adrenal exhaustion.  A lot of

1/13/11 – 2 weeks into treatment

I’m still exhausted.  As a matter of fact, I’m taking a nap after I finish this. I’m 2 weeks into my therapy today.  2 more weeks to feel better before making my next appt. early.  Umm… it’s looking like I’ll be scheduling an appt. soon. I thought by the way the Dr. was talking I’d

1/11/11 – When Normal isn’t Normal Anymore

Seems as though the Dr. had a remedy for the sleep.  Time will tell on the stomach. I ate a protein pudding before bed to see if that helps. I woke feeling much more refreshed than I’ve felt in a few weeks.  I made the decision, probably too prematurely, to head to the gym.  I

1/10/11

It’s a gloomy day today.  A light snow storm moved in and another heavier one is on it’s way.  I haven’t seen the sun all day and that’s never good for me.  It doesn’t help that last night sleep was horrible.  The past several nights it’s felt as though I’ve taken a dose of speed.

My Road to Recovery – Adrenal Exhaustion

It’s been a while since I blogged last.  Lots has happened, some of which I’m not able to speak of at the moment.  All of which has impacted my physical or emotional well being. My test results came in and my Dr. read them to me.  “Adrenal Exhaustion” to say it simply.  I’m bouncing back

Not just burned out – shutting down.

Test results in and they say it’s not just in my head, burned out, it’s my body shutting down.  A real time fatigue that needs healing and support. Spent quite a bit of time at the Dr.s today.  I’m hoping one day I won’t have an irrational fear of those visits.  Basic news is there
