25 min. Bodyweight Tabata Workout

I got a great little workout for you.  I snagged this from yourinnerskinny.com for a quick home workout for the girls last week.  I also gave it a whirl. Download this cool interval timer – HIIT Interval Training Timer Ok, here’s the workout.  Each exercise is to be performed for 20 seconds with 10 seconds of rest.

Just Do It

Well, Christmas is over and so are my excuses for indulging in Holiday treats. I ate crap, but I didn’t binge by any means. The weight comes on easier than before, and so it did.   I have a few goals in mind; I just have to decide which one has more meaning to me,

A Year’s Worth of Excuses for Junk

Have you ever rationalized eating junk food because it was a holiday or special occasion? 2013 is approaching rapidly! After a tough November and December (the 2 months that get me every year), it has me looking at all the excuses for eating junk I will have in this next year. Take a look at

More Practice With Studio Lights

I still think I need brighter bulbs, or 1 more brighter bulb (maybe 2).  I have 2-85 watt 5000k bulbs and 1-45 watt 5500k bulb.  Still having to set my ISO on no less than 400.  I got so sick of fooling with not having enough light (depending on the lens I was using) that

Winter Formal

Over the weekend my daughter and a friend had their very first formal dance in Highschool.  I set up my newly purchased studio kit.  I haven’t had a better excuse to learn how to use it.  Keep in mind these girls are minors and fresh to Highschool.  Dad told them before we dropped them at

HERE WE GO AGAIN – BEAR WITH ME!

Okay, I think I’m back to blogging.  Lots of stuff going on, gone on, will be going on.  I feel like I’m in English class going over verb usage!  Bear with me as I remodel my blog.  I had so many “do-over” blogs I consolidated them here.  What’s a “do-over” blog?  I was trying to continuously wipe

Return of Crossfit

Okay, I lied.  Although I still think I’m going with the flow.  A couple workouts later and I’m just not digging the slow reps.  As a matter of fact I’m not digging traditional workouts anymore.  *gasp!* (I almost hated to admit that.)  I quit crossfit because I couldn’t afford it, plus I hated that I

Go With the Flow

During my whole lifting career I’ve had someone else tell me what to do or how to do my workouts in some way or another.  The 3 years training for figure I had trainers telling me what to do with everything every step of the way.  After figure I had a program I followed for

Practicing Acceptance

I always thought if I just repeated positive affirmations like “i love who I am, and not what I look like”, or things like “It doesn’t matter what people think of me, only what I think of myself” that eventually I would learn to love myself.  I think I missed something else.  What about confronting

Unleash the Caged Animal

I went heavier than I planned.  I’m sure that had to do with the fact I’ve been like caged animal for the last couple weeks – migraines and some nasty bug.  I spent 2 solid weeks reading updates and posts about everyone else and their workouts and training.  It was like hanging a big juicy

God Wants Me to Listen

img src – www.mommyrantings.com Slowing down has been good for my spiritual growth.  This may sound a little unorthodox, but I’m Catholic with virtually no education or understanding of organized religion.  As a young girl I connected with God in my own ways.  I’m not sure how I knew how to do this, but I

The Real Me | "Before", "After" and "After After" -

I think it’s time I set the record straight. I tried to focus on my strengths and ignore the fact that my weight matters… Let’s be real; it matters to me and it matters to you… at least a lot of you. I belong to a popular support board where my profile gets a lot

New Bench PR!

No rest for the wicked, right? Back at it today.  First two sets of bench I just knew it was going to be ugly.  The bar felt double it’s weight.  95 lb was tough, 115 felt like 135 and then it was on to the “heavy” set.  I said 135, Mark spouts off with 140.

First Official Leg Day

I had my first official leg day today.  It’s been about 9 months since I had a traditional leg workout. I’ve partnered back up with Mark.  For those of you that don’t know me (or Mark), Mark was my 3rd trainer/mentor in my figure competing pursuit.  We really worked well together.  We had our break
