My Paleo Adventure Begins
I’m on Day 2 of a 30 day challenge to heal and promote a better quality of life for myself. I had already begun my Paleo adventure on Friday. Sunday I had a terrible migraine in which I caved in to some donuts for comfort – the emotional eating monster still lurks in the dark. So, Monday I decided to start The Whole 30 Challenge. I think I’ll call my challenge The 30 Day Healing Challenge. I think I’ll also journal those times I crave any type of dairy, grain, or junk food. This might as well be another time of reflection.
Yesterday, after being mostly grain and dairy free for 3 days (other than the donuts on Sunday), I noticed a return of energy and a sense of well being I started feeling back in March. That same feeling I noticed fading with the gradual addition of dairy to my diet. This morning I was fearful I would wake up with those feelings diminished and only have it be a result of chance. But, again today I woke with more ease and less fatigue than usual. I wouldn’t say I’m 100% by any means or this isn’t a placebo effect, but there is something that appears to be happening.
My main challenge so far is getting my carbs high enough to feel safe from further damage. Right now they are reaching just barely above 100 grams. I’d like to see them around 130-150 with a possibility of a higher carb day once a week. I bought some yams and will be making some menu plans in preparation for resolving this issue.
One thing has become certain on my journey…
