Through The Darkness of Metabolic Damage
I have met several people in this chapter of my life that feel just as lost as I once did and that’s what this blog is mostly about – helping others through the darkness of metabolic damage.
“When you put your health first you no longer need to force fat loss.”
When I was first diagnosed with metabolic damage I was lost. All the sources of expertise I had once leaned on from time to time were gone. Because losing weight wasn’t the goal anymore I had to learn what this was and how to move through it. Losing weight was much easier; you had someone there telling you what you needed to know, pointing you in the direction you needed and always there to bounce things off of. Suddenly this was all gone for me. I had to start from scratch in an area I had no clue or experience in. I remember feeling very isolated, alone, scared, and completely LOST!
In the last year I dug deep, as I DO, to find the answers. After many books, articles, blogs and forums I’ve discovered one of the most important finds I think I could have found (at least at this time) – a book titled, The Perfect Health Diet. It turns out I’ve scanned past this book many times, but the title threw me off. I had no intentions on finding or reading another DIET book. In every diet book I read I might learn something new, but most of it is adjusted and repeated.
I have read many sources on adrenal fatigue and hypothyroidism. What I’ve found is pieces of truth scattered all over the place, but never in the same place at the same time. It’s these pieces that led me to a blog post at www.perfecthealthdiet.com pertaining to low carbohydrate effects on thyroid function. There I found they had also written The Perfect Health Diet book. I hesitated buying this book for a several weeks partly because of the price ($24.49), but also because I was turned off by yet another “diet” book. However, I kept finding myself going back to this blog site for more information. Finally my curiosity got the best of me and I’m so glad I bought this book! I had no idea there was so much information we have yet to be enlightened with, and I thought I knew it all.
I’m going to be sharing some of the ideas in this book, based on science and fact. I’m definitely not a professional blogger, nor am I a professional writer, so bear with me as I piece some of the information together more simply for you. I will more than likely be referencing some other sources I’ve read as well. Not to mention, I’m living this life-style as we speak. I had a blood panel a few weeks before implementing these changes so it will be very interesting to see any changes. I must add I am also on a time-released T3, but it doesn’t seem to be helping me much anymore and my doctor is afraid to up the dose (20 mcg 2 x a day). I’m also finding me a new Dr. One that is confident and has more experience in the matter – too cautious is getting me nowhere. I digress… if The Perfect Health Diet is accurate, and I believe it is, than it’s very possible that I’m not absorbing the T3 efficiently nor am I converting the T4 to T3. But, that’s another topic.
